My Ph.D. research is focusing on the investigation of ileal crude protein and amino acid digestibility and apparent nitrogen retention responses to therapeutic aureomycin supplementation in the pig model. Moreover, to further evaluate the feed addition of aureomycin’s effect on the changes of gut microbiome composition. Under the supervision of Dr.Ming Z. Fan, I studied how to collect samples, and actively engaged in laboratory analyses of the study endpoints including the classic animal nutrition endpoints(i.e. ileal nutrient digestibility), physiological endpoints (i.e. nitrogen retention), and biochemical endpoints (i.e. enzyme kinetics) as well as molecular endpoints(i.e. western blotting and real-time PCR analyses of his target protein and gene abundances). I have also presented my findings in the national conference as well as local end-users workshops for the past two years for my program at the university.
