The seminar will begin at 1:30 PM EDT/EST in ANNU 141 and on the virtual platform of Microsoft Teams. The titles of their presentations are:
  • "Editing porcine IGF2 regulatory element improved meat production in Chinese Bama pigs" – Delano Adamson
  • “Impact of Implementing Female Genomic Selection and the Use of Sex-Selected Semen Technology on Genetic Gain in a Dairy Herd in New Zealand”– Xuewen (Sunny) Wang
  • A Review of "The effect of phenotyping, adult selection, and mating strategies on genetic gain and rate of inbreeding in black soldier fly breeding programs" – Madeleine Lacroix
  • “Genetic correlations between feed efficiency traits, and growth performance and carcass traits in purebred and crossbred pigs” – Regine Finstad

Speaker Bios:
Delano Adamson is a master’s by coursework student majoring in Animal Biosciences, supervised by Dr. Flavio Schenkel. Delano completed his bachelor's degree in animal science at Dordt University in Iowa where he also did an internship working with pigs as a model for human diseases. He has also has experience working with pigs engineered for the purpose of xenotransplantation in New York, and with lab anaimal species in ocular neurosciences at Charles River laboratories in Quebec.
Xuewen (Sunny) Wang is a master's student majoring in Animal Bioscience, supervised by Dr. Christine Baes at the University of Guelph. She is currently completing coursework.
Madeleine Lacroix is a course-based master's student in Animal Biosciences with a focus on animal breeding and selection.
Regine Finstad is a master’s student at the Norwegian University of Life Science (NMBU), currently on exchange at the University of Guelph.
