Ivan I. Avalos-RosarioPosition/Title: PhD student email: iavalosr@uoguelph.ca Phone: (519) 824 4120 ext. 56729 Office: ANNU 171C |
Born in Catemaco, a small town in the southeastern part of Veracruz state, Mexico, Ivan began interacting with various animal species at a young age. Raised in a cattle-farming family, he developed an interest in veterinary medicine. Through a variety of experiences in his academic and professional life, Ivan decided to continue exploring the science behind the dairy industry. Working in this field inspired him to explore bridging the gap between animal science and veterinary medicine to address real-world challenges faced by farmers and veterinarians. Through research focusing on the postpartum health of transition dairy and dual-purpose cows, he aims to explore the link between energy metabolism, immune function, and the inflammatory process. His goal is to develop management programs that prevent postpartum diseases, improve animal welfare, and optimize the productive and reproductive performance of dairy and dual-purpose cows.
