Biography:
Reza Bakhshalinejad recently earned his Ph.D. in the Animal Bioscience Department at the University of Guelph, which signifies a significant milestone in his academic journey and research contributions to the field of poultry nutrition. His educational foundation was laid at the University of Tehran, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from 2009 to 2014. During his undergraduate tenure, Reza actively sought diverse internships at multiple animal production farms, gaining invaluable Hands-on experience with several livestock species, including cattle, sheep, laying hens, turkeys, and broiler chickens. This practical engagement enriched his understanding of animal husbandry and inspired his further academic pursuits.
After his undergraduate studies, Reza attended Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, earning a Master of Science in Poultry Nutrition. Throughout his Master’s program, Reza made significant contributions to the academic community by collaborating on ten research projects and co-authoring eleven papers published in esteemed peer-reviewed journals, showcasing his ability to contribute to crucial scientific discourse.
Building on this solid academic foundation, Reza transitioned into professional roles within three distinct companies, where he advanced from an R&D member to a coordinator position. These experiences provided him with practical insight into the feed additives industry and equipped him with the skills necessary for effectively managing research projects and leading teams.
In September 2021, Reza joined Prof. Elijah Kiarie’s monogastric nutrition lab at the University of Guelph as a Ph.D. student. His doctoral research focused on the intricate impact of different forms of trace minerals in the diets of broiler breeders. The research examined how these varying mineral forms can influence the performance and skeletal development of the breeders and their progeny, which has implications for enhancing productivity in poultry production systems.
Outside the academic realm, Reza actively contributes to the scientific community by serving on review boards for several international journals. When not immersed in scholarly pursuits, he finds solace in activities like driving, leisurely walks, and exploring culinary creativity through cooking.
Looking ahead, Reza is motivated to merge his academic acumen and practical insights into the Canadian poultry industry, striving to bring forth innovative advancements that elevate the industry's practices and sustainability.
