Are you looking to take 4700 or 4710 in Fall 2025, or Winter 2026? Dr. Julang Li is the course coordinator for these courses - and as such, sign off on the course waiver form (if needed) will be by Dr. Julang Li. - Please read the updated information below - reflecting the new course waiver process starting for the Fall 2025 semester.

If you are looking to sign up for either ANSC*4700 or ANSC*4710, please review the following requirements and steps:

ANSC*4700need to have 14 credits, and the course is restricted to Animal Biology and Animal Science major’s, and will need instructor consent.

ANSC*4710pre-requisite is ANSC*4700, and the course is restricted to Animal Biology and Animal Science major’s, and will need instructor consent.

In order to get instructor consent, please follow the steps below:

  1. Find a faculty advisor who is willing to work with you. Some potential openings can be viewed in the link :  https://animalbiosciences.uoguelph.ca/current-undergraduate-research-opportunities . You can also search on the departmental faculty websites to find those whose research aligns with your interests and get the student/faculty agreement completed and signed. (a copy of that form is available below)
  2. Send your completed & signed student/faculty agreement to Dr. Julang Li (jli@uoguelph.ca) with your email request to join the course, cc’ing Karina McKenzie (kmck@uoguelph.ca) – for filing of the agreement form.
  3.  If all the requirements are met, Dr. Li will provide permission for you to register via the WebAdvisor system within a few days. Check the system; once your request is granted, you can then register online.
  4. A course waiver form is no longer needed when requesting to take ANSC*4700 or ANSC*4710 - UNLESS you are a "Late Add" or from another program, e.g. not BSC.ABIO, BSCG.ANSC, then you will still need to send the waiver form to the enrollment office after the consent from Dr. Li.
  5. You can register for both Fall and Winter semesters - if you have been granted consent. When registering for both courses in WebAdvisor: Start by registering for Fall, and then once you are in the Fall course, then you can register for the Winter one.
